Welcome to the HP of Takahito Mitsui

I'm a postdoctoral researcher on (paleo)climate dynamics at Technical University of Munich and a guest researcher at Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK). I investigate

  • ice ages (glacial-interglacial cycles)
  • the middle Pleistocene transition
  • millennial-scale abrupt climate changes (Dansgaard-Oeschger events)
  • current interglacial climate (Holocene) and future
  • climate tipping elements
  • Indian Summer Monsoon

with the aid of

  • mathematical modelling, in the use of data assimilation techniques (nonlinear Kalman filtering)
  • dynamical systems analysis of climate models (bifurcations, quasiperiodicity, chaos, strange nonchaotic attractor (SNA), synchronizations, as well as noise-induced oscillations)
  • machine learning (reservoir computing)
  • Climate modelling with Atmosphere-Ocean General Circulation Models

Press release for ERL article on the prediction of Indian Summer Monsoon onset
