Welcome to the HP of Takahito Mitsui

I'm investigating (paleo)climate dynamics and weather control at Juntendo University.
My research topics are

  • ice age cycles (glacial-interglacial cycles)
  • millennial-scale abrupt climate changes (Dansgaard-Oeschger events)
  • current interglacial climate (Holocene) and future
  • climate tipping points
  • Indian summer monsoon
  • controlling extreme weather events

with the aid of

  • mathematical modelling, in the use of data assimilation techniques (nonlinear Kalman filtering)
  • dynamical systems analysis of climate models (bifurcations, quasiperiodicity, chaos, strange nonchaotic attractor (SNA), synchronizations, as well as noise-induced oscillations)
  • machine learning (reservoir computing)
  • Climate modelling with Atmosphere-Ocean General Circulation Models
